| Obverse description | Papal coat-of-arms surmounted by crossed keys and the pontifical tiara, the whole enclosed within a quadrilobe frame. | Reverse description | Saint Peter depicted full-length, standing facing, nimbed and draped in pontifical vestments, holding a large key in his raised right hand and the Gospel book clasped against his left arm. The figure is rendered with characteristic medieval solemnity against a plain hammered field. A circular Latin legend runs along the entire periphery, separated by pellet stops, identifying the saint and the city of Bologna. |
