Reverse description Central device consisting of the large crowned quartered royal arms of Castile, León, Aragon, and Granada, as used by Ferdinand II the Catholic. The shield displays the characteristic castles of Castile, lions of León, vertical pales of Aragon, and the pomegranate of Granada in the base. A crown surmounts the shield at the top of the field. The arms are enclosed within a beaded inner border, with the circular Latin legend reading around the full periphery of the coin.
