Reverse description The reverse features a plain central field bearing the denomination ONE DOLLAR in two lines in large serif lettering, flanked below by a pair of olive or laurel sprigs arranged symmetrically. The centennial commemorative dates 1803 and 1903 appear in two lines beneath the sprigs, marking the centenary of the Louisiana Purchase. The circumferential legend LOUISIANA PURCHASE EXPOSITION arcs along the upper border, while ST.
