1 Dollar Return of Hong Kong

Liberia issued a wave of commemorative dollars throughout the 1990s targeting the collector market rather than circulation, and this piece marking the 1997 handover of Hong Kong from British to Chinese sovereignty is squarely in that category. The handover, completed at midnight on June 30–July 1, 1997, ended 156 years of British colonial administration.
