Reverse description Colorized bust-length portrait of Don John of Austria (Juan de Austria), commander of the Holy League at the Battle of Lepanto, depicted in three-quarter view wearing ornate black-and-gold armour with a red sash and a lace ruff collar, holding a baton of command. Behind him, a vivid colored panoramic scene of the Battle of Lepanto (1571) shows a multitude of galleys engaged in combat on open water. The surrounding border is rendered in an uncolored relief of stone masonry with cannon and fallen figures, evoking a military scene. The series title THE GREATEST WARLORDS OF HISTORY arcs along the upper legend, the date 2014 appears at right, and the name JOHN OF AUSTRIA is inscribed on a label in the lower field.
