Additional information

Issued by Tuvalu under its licensing arrangement with the Perth Mint, this piece commemorates the 50th anniversary of the original Star Trek television series, which first aired on NBC in September 1966. Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock until his death in 2015, never saw the anniversary year. The "Mirror" designation refers to the 1967 episode "Mirror, Mirror," in which a transporter malfunction strands Kirk's crew in a parallel universe — one of the franchise's most referenced episodes and a recurring touchstone in later series.
