| Reverse description | Highly detailed, high-relief depiction of Freyr, the Norse god of fertility, prosperity, and sunshine, rendered in selective gold gilding and shown standing in a commanding frontal pose. The deity is muscular and bare-chested, wearing a gilded belt and lower garments, and grasps a large ornate gilded sword pointed downward before him. To his left, a boar — a creature sacred to Freyr — stands in the field, while a Viking longship with a carved dragon prow sails through turbulent waters to the right, beneath dramatic stormy clouds and a sun disc. The entire central scene is enclosed within an intricately engraved Celtic knotwork border. The arc legend NORSE GODS appears at the top, the runic inscription ᚠᚱᛖᛦᚱ is positioned below it in the upper field, and FREYR is inscribed along the lower border. |
