Reverse description The classic Voyageur design, originally engraved by Emanuel Hahn, depicts a large birchbark canoe paddled by a French-Canadian voyageur in the stern and a Native figure in the bow, traversing a calm lake. A rocky islet bearing a windswept pine tree rises from the water at centre, with a loon perched at its top, while stylized northern lights fill the background. The engraver's initials EH appear in the lower left field near the waterline. The legend CANADA arcs across the upper field, with the date 2003 and denomination DOLLAR arranged across the lower field. A beaded border frames the entire composition.
