Additional information

Cook Islands has issued commemorative dollars under licensing arrangements since the 1970s, producing an enormous volume of thematic coinage with little connection to local commerce. This Boxer entry belongs to a dog-breed series from the early 2000s that leaned heavily on the collector novelty market rather than any domestic monetary need. The pieces never circulated on the islands in any meaningful sense.
