Additional information

This dollar commemorates the centenary of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother's birth in 1900 — though the dates on the coin, 1911–2001, mark the span from her marriage to King George VI's coronation year through to her 101st year. She would live another year, dying in March 2002. The Royal Canadian Mint issued this as part of its annual proof dollar program, a series that had by 2001 grown into a reliable collector vehicle rather than a circulation issue.
