| Beschrijving voorzijde | Left-facing draped bust of Liberty, her hair bound with a fillet inscribed LIBERTY and adorned with wheat and cotton motifs, emblematic of American agriculture and industry. Thirteen six-pointed stars are arranged along the upper and lower rim, flanking the date 1880 at the base. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM appears as a legend encircling the design. The portrait is executed in the classic style of Chief Engraver William Barber, with fine drapery detail at the shoulder. |
