| Obverse description | Crudely hammered copper flan bearing the Kalima in Arabic script across the field, arranged in two lines. The first line reads the declaration of faith 'La ilaha illallah' (There is no god but God), with the second line completing the Shahada with 'Muhammadun rasulullah' (Muhammad is the messenger of God). The legends are struck in relief against a plain, unadorned field with no border, characteristic of early Akbar-period copper coinage. The irregular flan edges and bold but roughly executed calligraphy are consistent with hammered Mughal dam production. |
