The shield is flanked by fire steels (fusils) with emanating sparks, symbols of the Order of the Golden Fleece, with the collar and pendant jewels of the Order framing the heraldic composition. The crowns surmounting the arms are rendered in fine detail consistent with hammered coinage of the period. The reverse legend, drawn from Psalm 118, encircles the entire design. |
