Reverse description A complex, upright shield bearing the quartered coat of arms of the Barony of Batenburg, surmounted by two crested helmets with elaborate lambrequins, rendered in the mannerist heraldic style prevalent in the Low Countries circa 1579. The value designation is divided by the shield in the field. The full date 1579 appears integrated within the encircling Latin legend, which is contained between beaded borders. The composition of the arms reflects the dynastic claims and territorial affiliations of the Bronckhorst-Batenburg family.
