Additional information

The Dutch one cent piece survived well into the postwar decades largely through bureaucratic inertia — by the 1960s it purchased almost nothing, yet successive governments resisted demonetization. It was finally withdrawn in 1980, the same year Juliana abdicated in favor of Beatrix, making the latest-dated examples coincidental relics of a reign's end rather than a planned farewell issue.
