Beschrijving voorzijde The full Coat of Arms of Jamaica occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield charged with five pineapples, supported by a Taino man to the right bearing a spear and a Taino woman to the left holding a basket of fruit, both in traditional dress. A crocodile is displayed as the crest above a royal helmet and mantling. A scroll below the shield bears the national motto in raised lettering. The country name JAMAICA arcs along the upper legend, the date appears at the bottom, and the Franklin Mint privy mark is positioned below the shield.

Beschrijving keerzijde A naturalistically rendered branch of the ackee (Blighia sapida), Jamaica's national fruit, is depicted in the center of the field, showing the characteristic open pods with arils and seeds along with surrounding foliage and leaves rendered in fine relief. The numeral '1' appears in the lower central field beneath the botanical motif. The FAO slogan LET US PRODUCE MORE FOOD curves along the upper and left periphery, while the denomination ONE CENT is inscribed along the lower legend, both flanked by raised pellets as separators.

Aanvullende informatie

Jamaica's F.A.O. coinage was part of a United Nations-coordinated program that encouraged member states to issue coins with agricultural themes, tying currency directly to food production campaigns of the 1970s. The "narrow legend" variety distinguishes this set-issue striking from circulation examples of the same type — a subtle but catalogued difference in the spacing of the inscription that collectors routinely conflate without close comparison.
