Obverse description Cast bronze cash coin displaying the four-character reign title inscription 熙寧元寶 (Xi Ning Yuan Bao) rendered in Regular script (Kaishu), disposed symmetrically in the four cardinal positions around a central square perforation: 熙 (Xi) at top, 寶 (Bao) to the right, 寧 (Ning) to the left, and 元 (Yuan) at bottom, read in clockwise sequence. Each character is boldly cast in low relief within the coin's inner field, framed by a raised square rim enclosing the central hole and an outer circular rim. The flat field between the inner square and outer rim is unadorned. The coin exhibits the characteristic Northern Song aesthetic of clean, regular brushstroke forms faithfully reproduced in cast metal.
