| 表面の説明 | Central rectangular cartouche bearing four kanji characters arranged in two columns: 常銀 (jōgin) and 是座 (jōze), denoting the guaranteed silver and mint official. Superimposed over the cartouche is a deeply incuse stamp of the character 定 (jō, meaning 'guaranteed'). The entire central device is framed by a border of twenty Sakura (cherry blossom) floral ornaments. Specimens exist in which one of the blossoms in the bottom row appears inverted, and the bottom-left character 是 may display two strokes in a crossed arrangement, both being recognized die varieties. |
