Reverse description The reverse features the large numeral 1 at centre, bisected vertically by a decorative foliate scroll device, with the word ANNA split to either side of it, reading 1 ANNA in combination. The word INDIA appears above the numeral within the scroll cartouche, and the date is struck below. Surrounding the central design, the denomination one anna is rendered in four Indian scripts — Urdu (ایک آنہ) in the upper left, Telugu (ఒక అణా) in the upper right, Devanagari (एक आना) in the lower left, and Bengali (এক আনা) in the lower right — arranged symmetrically around the scalloped field.
