| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Christian VIII occupies the center of the obverse field, rendered in low relief with fine portrait detail. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust, reading CHRISTIANVS VIII D:G:DANIÆ V:G:REX, identifying the king by the Grace of God as ruler of Denmark, the Goths, and the Wends. The date 1842 is divided at the base of the portrait by the Altona mint mark (globe symbol), flanked by the initials of the mint officials. The portrait style is characteristic of early nineteenth-century Scandinavian minting, with a naturalistic treatment of the royal likeness. |
