| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a rectilinear tablet or panel containing the abbreviated legend COMf in bold, raised Celtic lettering, referencing Verica's royal title Commi(i) F(ilius), son of Commios. A decorative annulet with pellet centre appears above the tablet and a second similar annulet is positioned below, flanking the inscription symmetrically. The flan exhibits the characteristically irregular planchet edge typical of British Iron Age hammered coinage, with a finely beaded border visible along the right margin. The flat, striated field surrounding the central panel reflects the abstract, geometric aesthetic of late Atrebatic coinage produced in the period immediately preceding the Roman conquest. |
