| Reverse description | A rampant crowned lion facing left, holding a halberd, set within an inner circle against a plain field. The mint master's initials PG appear in the lower portion of the inner field beneath the lion. The circumferential legend DOMINUS PROVIDEBIT with the date 1649 (or relevant year) runs around the periphery, separated by pellets and rosette stops. The design is characteristic of Danish speciedaler coinage of the mid-17th century, with the lion serving as a traditional heraldic symbol of the Danish royal house. |
