Reverse description The Norwegian lion — a crowned, two-tailed rampant lion holding a halberd — occupies the central field within a beaded inner circle, facing left. The date is divided by the lion at the left and right sides of the field. A Latin devotional legend encircles the design in the outer field between the beaded circle and the rim. On issues from 1643 onward, a clover-shaped mintmark (m) appears within the legend.
