Reverse description Central field displays the denomination '1/4 RUPEE' and date '1889' in three lines within an open wreath of leafy branches tied at the base, flanked by six-pointed stars at either side. The circular legend 'RAMA VURMA' arcs across the upper field and 'TRAVANCORE' along the lower field in Latin capital letters. The whole design is enclosed within a raised beaded border, consistent with the milled coinage of the Travancore state mint.
