Obverse description Unadorned bare head effigy of King Carl XIV Johan facing right, rendered in high relief with naturalistic curly hair and strong classical features. The truncation of the neck is plain and undecorated. A continuous Latin legend encircles the effigy along the rim, reading CARL XIV SVERIGES NORR. G. OCH V. KONUNG, identifying the monarch as King of Sweden, Norway, the Goths and the Wends. The beaded inner border frames the design, and the field is otherwise plain.
