Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a plain cross pattee occupies the central field, its arms touching the inner border; the quadrants formed by the cross contain decorative geometric elements including an armillary sphere-like motif. A continuous Latin legend in two registers — an outer and inner band separated by a beaded border — surrounds the central motif, reading CHRIS IIII D G DA NOR WA GO REX ELE NACH PORTVGALISCHE SCHROT V KORN, identifying King Christian IV of Denmark by grace of God and certifying the coin's weight and fineness according to the Portuguese standard.
