Lakshmi Singha ruled Assam from 1769 to 1780 under sustained pressure from Burmese incursions that had already destabilized the Ahom kingdom through much of the preceding decade. His reign saw a partial restoration of Ahom authority following the first Burmese occupation, though the political situation remained precarious enough that a second invasion would follow shortly after his death. Gold mohurs and their fractions continued to be struck in the traditional Ahom manner throughout — one of the few institutional continuities the kingdom managed to preserve.
