Christ raises his right hand in a gesture of benediction while holding the Gospels in his left hand. The reverse fabric is characteristic of late Palaeologan hammered silver, with an uneven flan and areas of flat striking. The imagery conforms to the standard iconographic programme of late Byzantine quarter hyperpyra. |
