Additional information

Andreas Jakob von Dietrichstein held the Prince-Archbishopric of Salzburg for barely three years, from 1747 until his death in 1753, making issues from his reign among the shortest-window pieces in the Salzburg episcopal series. The quarter ducat in particular was struck in limited quantities relative to the full ducat, as the denomination served primarily as a presentation and gift piece rather than a workhorse of commerce.

Zöttl 2849 confirms the attribution with no recorded die variants for this specific type.
