Reverse description Central field bears the denomination inscription ONE QUARTER ANNA in three lines, separated from INDIA and the date below by a horizontal rule, all contained within a raised beaded inner circle. This central cartouche is surrounded by an elaborate wreath of intertwining vines, leaves, and floral sprays rendered in high relief, creating a decorative frame that fills the field to the milled and beaded outer border. The mint mark, where present, appears below the date: a single leaf for the Calcutta Mint or two flanking leaves for the Bombay Mint.
