Reverse description The reverse features the denomination 'ONE QUARTER ANNA' inscribed in three bold lines at the centre of the field, enclosed within a symmetrical wreath of laurel or olive branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow. Above the wreath, the Urdu/Persian legend 'یک پائی' (one paisa/quarter) appears in Nastaliq script, flanked by the English inscription 'EAST INDIA COMPANY' arranged in a circular legend around the upper periphery. The lettering is clear and boldly struck, and the overall design is clean and utilitarian in style. A beaded border runs along the rim.
