Reverse description The central field displays the denomination ONE QUARTER ANNA in spaced capital letters arranged in four lines, separated from INDIA and the date 1911 below by a horizontal rule. The entire central inscription is enclosed within an ornate inner dotted border, itself surrounded by an elaborate wreath of intertwining vine and acanthus scrollwork bearing oak and other foliage, filling the field between the inner border and the toothed outer rim. The design is characteristic of the floral decorative style employed on British Indian coinage of the period.
