Additional information

The "Fat Man" dollar series — officially the Yuan Shikai coinage — was introduced following the president's consolidation of power after Yuan dissolved parliament in 1913. The half-yuan denomination was struck in notably smaller quantities than the full dollar, and the .700 fineness was a deliberate reduction from the earlier Qing standard, a quiet fiscal adjustment that went largely unremarked at the time of issue.

Kann#655 designation places this among the confirmed circulation strikes rather than the later restrike production that muddies attribution on several related types.
