Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic legend in nasta'liq script arranged within a decorative cartouche, reading the invocation 'Ya Muhammad' together with the mint name Dar al-Saltana Tehran and the AH date 1211. The legend is densely composed and occupies virtually the entire flan. The periphery is bordered by a granulated or beaded inner border, characteristic of Qajar hammered gold coinage of this period. The irregular flan and hand-struck technique are consistent with late-18th-century Iranian mint practice.
