| Obverse description | Christ pantocrator depicted standing facing on a suppedion (footstool), nimbed with a cruciform halo, vested in pallium and colobium. With his right hand raised in benediction and his left hand clasping the Holy Gospels, the figure is rendered in the hieratic Byzantine style characteristic of the Komnenian period. The flanking field inscriptions IC XC identify the figure as Jesus Christ. |
