Obverse description Armored and draped bust of King Frederick III, small in scale, with long flowing hair, facing right within a solid inner circle. The royal effigy is crowned, presenting a laureate profile in the baroque style typical of mid-17th century Scandinavian coinage. The surrounding peripheral legend in Latin is separated from the central device by the inner circle, with the inscription commencing above the bust. A beaded border runs along the outer rim.

Reverse description A crowned, two-tailed rampant lion passant, the heraldic symbol of the Kingdom of Norway, occupies the central field within a solid inner circle, grasping a curved halberd (bardiche) in its forepaws. The royal motto is rendered in Latin along the outer circumference, with the date of issue and the mintmaster's initials (FG) appearing at the close of the legend. A beaded border frames the outer rim, consistent with the obverse treatment.
