Reverse description Central shield bearing the Norwegian royal arms — a crowned lion rampant holding an axe — enclosed within a square-cornered, rivet-studded frame surmounted by a royal crown. To the left of the shield the denomination is expressed as 1/2 and 60, and to the right as SPs. and Skl., indicating one-half Speciedaler equal to 60 Skilling. Below the shield, the assay and mint specification reads 18 1/2 ST. 1 MK. F.S., denoting fineness and weight standards, followed by the date 1833 flanked by the Kongsberg mint mark of crossed hammers. The entire design is contained within a beaded border.
