Obverse description Left-facing crowned and robed bust of King George V, engraved by Bertram Mackennal, occupying the central field. The King is depicted wearing the Imperial State Crown and robes of state with elaborate collar detail. The encircling legend reads GEORGE V KING EMPEROR in raised Latin lettering along the upper periphery, with the truncation of the bust resting near the lower rim. The portrait is rendered in a refined, medallic style characteristic of early twentieth-century British colonial coinage.
