Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King Edward VII facing right, modelled by George William de Saulles, occupying the majority of the obverse field. The king's features — including his beard, moustache, and ear — are rendered in fine relief with naturalistic detail. A continuous beaded border encircles the design. The legend EDWARD VII KING AND EMPEROR runs around the periphery, with the title arching from the lower left, ascending behind the effigy to the upper right.
