Obverse description Facing crowned bust of Juan II (John II of Aragon) depicted in a Gothic style, wearing a crown surmounted by a cross fleury, with long hair falling to the shoulders and a draped garment visible at the truncation. Below the bust, a small heraldic device is visible in the lower field. The effigy is rendered in the flat, stylised manner characteristic of late medieval Aragonese hammered coinage. The entire central device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery.
