| Obverse description | Hammered copper flan of irregular round shape bearing two lines of Arabic calligraphy in the Naskh script, separated by a raised horizontal line across the field. The upper register contains the regal name Aurangzeb and the lower register bears his imperial title Alamgir, both rendered in bold, deeply struck characters typical of Mughal copper coinage. The legends fill the field to the edges with no border, consistent with the rough, hand-struck production technique of the period. The surfaces show characteristic uneven relief and flan irregularities inherent to hammered Mughal dam-series coinage. |
