| Beschrijving voorzijde | Duke Philip the Bold stands full-length within a sailing ship, depicted in three-quarter view, wearing a crown of roses and full armour. He raises a drawn sword in his right hand and bears a Burgundian quartered shield in his left. The ship's hull, mast lines, and rigging are rendered in fine hammered detail characteristic of the Flemish noble type. The surrounding legend is inscribed in Gothic uncial characters, each word separated by double saltire punctuation marks. |

The surrounding legend is inscribed in Gothic uncial characters and separated by double saltire punctuation marks, echoing the obverse treatment. |
