Obverse description Central field displays a quartered shield bearing the arms of Brabant and Limbourg, set within a polylobe (multifoil) border. Small annulets occupy the external angles between the lobes and the outer legend circle. The design is executed in a bold, Gothic hammered style typical of mid-14th-century Brabantine coinage. The peripheral legend is separated from the central device by a beaded inner circle.
