Obverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint John the Baptist standing in the field, depicted in flowing robes with elaborate drapery rendered in fine Gothic style. The saint holds a book or tablet in his left hand, with his right arm slightly raised, consistent with standard Valencian florin iconography. A nimbus or halo surrounds the head of the figure. The peripheral Latin legend reads S IOHANNES B, identifying the patron saint. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, characteristic of hammered gold coinage of the period.

Reverse description A large, boldly rendered fleur-de-lis dominates the central field, its three stylized petals executed in the Gothic decorative manner typical of Aragonese florins modelled on the Florentine prototype. The design is finely detailed with foliate scrollwork at the base of the lily. The surrounding peripheral Latin legend reads ARAGO REX AL, identifying Alfonso V as King of Aragon. Small decorative stops or pellets punctuate the legend. The hammered flan exhibits the characteristic irregularity of medieval gold coinage struck at the Valencia mint.
