The Solomon Islands has issued commemorative coinage under licensing agreements with Disney since the early 2010s, using its authority as an independent Commonwealth realm to contract with private mints — most commonly the Perth Mint and various European houses — for collector-targeted novelty issues. These pieces circulate nowhere and are priced well above face value from the moment of issue.
Gold-plated iron is an unusual substrate choice; most comparable issues use copper or brass cores.
