The Solomon Islands has issued commemorative pieces under its own authority since independence in 1978, but the country has no meaningful connection to the Apollo program — this is pure licensing territory, struck for the collector market rather than for circulation. NASA imagery and the Apollo name are commercially licensed, and dozens of mints produce annual lunar-themed issues under arrangements that have nothing to do with sovereign monetary policy.
Charles III ascended following Elizabeth II's death in September 2022, making 2025 issues among his earliest commemorative appearances on Pacific-issued collector pieces.
