| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Karl XIV Johan with short curly hair, rendered in a neoclassical portrait style. The bust is truncated at the neck and positioned centrally within a broad, flat field. A continuous Latin legend encircles the portrait along the toothed rim, reading CARL XIV SVERIGES NORR. G. O. V. KONUNG, identifying the king as ruler of Sweden, Norway, the Goths, and the Wends. The portrait is rendered with fine detail in the facial features and hair, characteristic of early nineteenth-century Swedish coinage engraving. |
