Obverse description The arms of Fribourg displayed centrally within the field: a crenellated castle or city gate in relief, surmounted by a demi-eagle or lion as crest, rendered in the late Renaissance heraldic style typical of Swiss cantonal coinage. The shield is flanked by decorative elements and enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential Latin legend reads MO AVREA FRIBVRGENSIS with the abbreviated date 94, separated by pellets, running along the outer border between the beaded circle and the toothed rim.
