This note was never actually issued. The Oesterreichisch-ungarische Bank prepared the one-million Kronen denomination in 1918 as hyperinflation began accelerating, but the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire that November overtook the process entirely. The successor states — Austria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and others — each inherited portions of the old currency stock and moved quickly to stamp or overstamp circulating notes to assert monetary control, rendering the unissued Habsburgs irrelevant.
Surviving specimens originate from the bank's own archive rather than any redemption or circulation pathway, which is why they appear without cancellation perforations or stamps.
