Obverse description Bearded male head facing left, rendered in bold relief in the archaic Greek tradition, representing the river god Borysthenes (the deified Dnieper River). The hair falls in thick, flowing waves to the neck, and the full beard is naturalistically modeled. The face displays strong, well-defined features characteristic of late Classical Greek provincial die engraving. The broad, slightly irregular flan is typical of Olbian bronze coinage of this period.
